Take a Summer Break From Cleaning

Check out a playlist of songs about summer. You’ll hear about the beach, vacations, the sun and fun, but you won’t hear a word about cleaning. That’s because summer and cleaning don’t really go together. There’s a reason why people traditionally clean in the spring – so they don’t have to do it in the summer!

You have better things to do in the summer. You can:

  • Go to the beach.
  • Ride a roller coaster.
  • Have a nice shaved ice.
  • Sit by the pool.
  • Hang a hammock.
  • Go to an outdoor concert.
  • Find a dock and dangle your feet in the water.
  • Catch up on your favorite fiction.
  • Catch a fish.
  • Try stand-up paddle boarding.

If these sound more fun than doing housework, it’s time to consider hiring a cleaning service.

Why Use a Service

Cleaning services offer several advantages over DIY cleaning, other than the time that you’ll save for more fun things.

First, your house will be cleaned regularly. Areas that are cleaned periodically stay looking good longer. Rugs, window coverings and upholstery that are free from grit will stay beautiful. Wood surfaces won’t accumulate the build-up of oil, dust and dirt that necessitates refinishing or replacing.

Second, your house will be cleaned by someone with the proper tools and supplies, plus the know-how to do it right. You can actually damage your property by using the wrong cleaners or the wrong tools. That won’t happen with professionals.

Third, you will be conserving your valuable time. Having a cleaning service may mean that you have more time to make money. It will give you more time to do the things that are most important to you, like advancing your education or serving your community. It may equal more time with your family, which is priceless.

Fourth, you’ll have the advantage of fresh eyes. We all have blind spots when it comes to our homes. Maybe certain areas are too high or too low to be noticed. Professional cleaners are accustomed to looking for areas that have been neglected and making them shine.

Fifth, you’ll be reducing your stress. You won’t be worrying about how you are going to do all the things you need to do, plus clean your house. You won’t fret about whether someone is going to drop in unexpectedly and catch you with a dirty house. Just having clean, uncluttered areas for your eyes to rest upon can give you a happier outlook.

Summer Cleaning Challenges

When it comes to your house, summer is no picnic. June, July and August are hard on houses. The heat and humidity of summer can lead to extra mold and mildew. Grass needs to be cut more often, and clippings often make their way into the house. You may be bringing pets indoors more often because of the heat, and that means more pet hair.

If you have kids, they are probably home for the summer, which means lots of kid-style messes. Chances are that they will be playing in the sand and in the water and and then tracking up your floors. If you’re lucky, you’ll be getting wet and sandy, too.

Enjoy the Season

William Carlos Williams said, “In summer, the song sings itself.” Enjoy your summer song by letting someone else do the cleaning. You can always go back to doing your own housework in the autumn.

Of course, then there will be leaves to jump in, football games to watch and pumpkin patches to visit.

Maybe having a cleaning service is a good idea for every season of the year.
